Frontviews is the collective of artists, curators and culture scientists, who run HAUNT - a space for art and ecologies, located in Tiergarten Süd, close to Kulturforum and Potsdamer Straße. As 2024, this year of ongoing emergencies, reaches its final days, the active members of the frontviews collective reach out. They got in touch with their favoured artists – which are no members of the collective for themselves – but who created outstanding artworks that have been deeply influential for the individual frontviews members and have had an outstanding impact on their personal perception of art or even their own artistic practice.
By inviting their chosen artists to present key works at HAUNT - Frontviews members host their most admired practitioners - to value their commitment for the work they create, to support them and to give them more exposure as well as to become part of our common dialogue. Maybe their choices are founded upon the beauty, intensity, the humour, the strangeness of the piece, or whichever artistic qualities or resonances that have drawn them to pick this certain work. These selected positions will be on display in the exhibition space.
Finally, bringing all this together, frontviews is conceiving and hosting an exhibition of personal favourites, the collective greatest hits - a constellation to highlight and admire. This gesture includes the artists, that frontviews always wanted to have as guests and to show their artworks, that we were always longing for in our surrounding. Therefore this is also a project, wherein the frontviews collective reflects on encounters, affinities, influences, consequences and the four-dimensional shifting body of our culture, which steadily blows, flows, creeps, expands, and deflates.
As our very own response to the growing divisions within society and between cultures, nations or even worldviews – frontviews would like to finalise this remarkable year, which a lot of people consider as a „finale Zeitenwende“ – a definitive turn of the epoch, with a small gesture of maintaining togetherness. We just want to up hold the crucial culture for us, while we are commonly facing what mounts ahead of us.
To fund the activities at HAUNT, frontviews also present a showroom with editions and unique artworks as an integral part of the exhibition, Guests can discover their own outstanding works of art and bring them home, especially for the festive final of the year.
